Louisa Barry is a Greek mezzo-soprano living in South East London. She won a scholarship to study at Trinity College of Music and also at Canterbury Christ Church University with specialisation in voice performance. She has trained with Ameral Gunson, Ava June, Fragkiskos Voutsinos and most recently with Raymond Connell.
In 2015 Louisa covered Annina (La Traviata) for Winslow Hall Opera. She also performed in a flashmob for the ‘Sacla’ pesto commercial. In 2014, she performed at the Brighton Fringe festival for M.J. Branch productions as Mrs Dakin in the premiere of the WWI commemorative opera King and Country. In 2011, Louisa performed as Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas) with Winterbourne Opera, Carmen (Carmen) in concert with Warriner Choral Society, Zita (Gianni Schicchi) with Trinity College of Music, and Bertha (The Barber of Seville (or Salisbury!)) with OperaUpCose.
In opera scenes, she has performed as Marcellina & Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Lazuli (L’Etoile), Dorothée (Cendrillon), Minsk Woman (Flight), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia), Angelina (Cenerentola), Idamante (Idomeneo), Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Diana (La Calisto), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), and Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte).
Louisa is an active performer and recitalist in the UK and abroad. She has sung as mezzo soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. She has recorded CDs and film as a solo singer and lyricist.
